It is true that, in these times, being happy is a truly revolutionary act.
I read something that caught my attention:
“feeling happy is enough to actually be happy.”
I like having my period, even when my ovaries hurt;
I feel it is a sort of gift I’ve been given.
Perhaps I strongly associate menstruation
with the idea of fertility (fertility, in fact, manifests in all aspects of life);
as a mature woman, I experience my periods with gratitude,
even when there is pain.
There are women who feel liberated once they stop having their period
and don’t miss it at all.
I remember a news item about a marathon runner who kept running
while on her period; she didn't wear a sanitary pad because she said it chafed—so off she went, running and bleeding like a warrior!
And in the press photo, she looked unstoppable,
with her shorts clearly “stained.”
There is something truly magical about menstruation.
I would love to keep having my period until I’m 100 years old.
Something curious happened to me today:
I wandered into the museum by chance—yet again—
and there was a female artist
with the mayor, presenting her painting—
just a single painting—to the media.
The painting was placed in the lobby, right at the entrance, on an easel, covered by a red cloth.
I listened to her presentation from the adjoining exhibition room
and realized something: the paintings in the exhibition room weren't hers;
they belonged to an artist
who had asked for “Walls for Andrea.”
A male artist asking for walls for a woman—and yes,
they gave the walls to *him*.
Meanwhile, the female artist had her painting placed in the museum lobby—
a painting that featured her, a self-portrait.
The walls the artist had requested for Andrea
were filled with his paintings—his own work.
The female artist posed for photos with her self-portrait.
The perspectives being presented were—in my view—pretty stale!
(I felt like talking to the director,
and sharing my thoughts on this—and everything else!
After all, the director is a philosopher—
like Bruce Lee, like Santiago Beruete—
but one who specializes in art.)
To move beyond existing narratives and generate new visions,
we need to create new narratives grounded in regenerative perspectives.
I had a quick chat with the artist;
I told her that for the next exhibition,
she should have the whole gallery to herself.
But she made a big fuss, saying no—that the whole gallery was too much, asking what for?
And I told her there’s nothing wrong with being ambitious.
Well.
I could delve endlessly into these matters,
but I have a very ambitious project
that I am developing with great love,
and the goal of changing the world!
Me pasó algo curioso hoy,
a mi parecer ¡bastante rancias!
