Between earth and sky, every breath becomes a victory.
Created from my original photograph taken in Peru in 2024, Rainbow Mountains Seen from Horseback captures both the majesty of the Andes and the emotional intensity of a deeply personal journey. Painted in oil on gallery canvas, the work reflects my experience climbing the Rainbow Mountains on horseback at nearly 5,000 meters altitude.
It was my first encounter with such extreme elevation, where every step became a challenge. Near the summit, my horse could no longer continue, leaving me to climb the final meters on foot. Breathing became difficult, yet the beauty surrounding me gave strength and inspiration. In that moment, the mountains appeared alive — flowing with movement, color, and spiritual energy.
Through expressive post-impressionist brushwork and rich textured layers, the landscape transforms into an emotional vision rather than a realistic scene. The swirling sky and vibrant mountains evoke freedom, perseverance, and wonder. This painting is not only a memory of travel, but also a tribute to resilience, human courage, and the dream of one day returning to stand upon the summit itself.
