In Angel, the celestial figure becomes a universal guardian rather than a religious symbol. With outstretched arms, the Angel shelters the earth beneath from the violence unfolding above.
The upper part of the composition is filled with turbulent gestures, intense reds, dark tones and flashes of yellow, evoking destruction, bloodshed and the emotional chaos of war. Beneath the Angel's protective embrace, the colours gradually soften into luminous blues, whites and greens, suggesting peace, hope and the resilience of life.
Created as part of the Earth at War series, inspired by the ongoing war in Ukraine, the painting reflects not only the tragedy of armed conflict but also humanity's enduring desire to protect what is fragile and precious.
