This work is part of my Dalmatia Series, a collection inspired by the landscapes, atmosphere, and emotional memories of the Croatian Mediterranean.
When people think of Dalmatia, they often imagine the sea, islands, and coastal towns. Yet Dalmatia is also its sun-drenched hinterland, where golden fields, stone villages, and the rhythm of nature shape everyday life. This painting is a tribute to that often-overlooked side of Dalmatia.
Inspired by the intense heat of a summer afternoon in the countryside, the work captures a moment when time seems to slow down. The golden wheat sways gently in the warm breeze, creating a quiet rhythm across the landscape. The air is heavy with sunlight, the fields shimmer in the distance, and nature moves with a calm, almost meditative energy.
Through expressive brushwork and vibrant color, I sought to capture not only the appearance of the landscape but also the feeling of being there—the warmth, stillness, and simple beauty of a Dalmatian summer day.
The Rhythm of Summer celebrates the connection between people, land, and memory, preserving a fleeting moment of summer that continues to live beyond the visible world.
