She Carries the Past is part of my Heroines series, which explores the invisible connection between generations of women.
The work reflects the idea that we are shaped not only by our own experiences, but also by memories, values, strengths, and stories inherited from those who came before us. Much of this inheritance exists beyond conscious awareness, becoming part of our character, instincts, and identity.
The figure carries the past within her, perhaps without fully realizing it. Generations of resilience, courage, love, and sacrifice live on through her presence. Through expressive color and layered textures, I sought to evoke this unseen legacy and the quiet strength it continues to hold.
In my work, I strive to express these invisible stories not only through symbolism, but also through the gaze of the figure and the movement of the brush. For me, emotion is carried as much by the eyes as by color, texture, and gesture.
This painting is a reflection on memory, identity, and the enduring influence of the past within the contemporary self.
