This work is part of my Dalmatian Series — a personal interpretation of light, color, memory, and the emotional landscape of the Mediterranean.
Inspired by summer on the island of Hvar and its endless lavender fields, this painting evokes a quiet nostalgia — a memory carried through fragrance, light, and atmosphere. Lavender is more than a plant; it is a symbol of Dalmatia itself, deeply woven into the landscape and into personal memories of warm summers, sea breezes, and sunlit horizons.
I work intuitively, guided by color and emotion rather than a fixed plan. Layers of violet, blue, and light emerge as reflections of feelings, transforming memories into visual experiences. The painting is not intended to describe a specific place, but rather the emotional essence of Hvar — its serenity, beauty, and timeless connection between nature and human experience.
For me, painting is more than a craft; it is a living dialogue between memory and the present, between silence and color. Through this work, I invite the viewer into a space where scent becomes memory, color becomes emotion, and the Mediterranean spirit continues to live beyond the visible world.
