This painting is inspired by Stiniva, one of the most iconic coves of the Croatian Adriatic. Rather than depicting the landscape realistically, I sought to capture its atmosphere — the feeling of entering a hidden place where sea, stone, and light exist in perfect harmony.
Through expressive brushstrokes and vibrant color, the cove becomes more than a physical location; it transforms into a memory, an emotion, and a symbol of the Mediterranean spirit. The movement of the sea contrasts with the timeless strength of the surrounding cliffs, creating a dialogue between freedom and permanence.
As in much of my work, color serves as an emotional language. Layers of blue, turquoise, and sunlit tones evoke both the energy and tranquility of the Adriatic, inviting the viewer into a space of contemplation and connection with nature.
Stiniva is a celebration of Dalmatia — its beauty, its light, and the deep sense of belonging it inspires.
