In the Eye of Spring” is a reflection of a belief that runs through all of my work: that life, beauty, and hope endure even in the face of hardship.
At the heart of the composition stands a simple vessel containing an apple, a symbol of the invisible treasures every human being carries within — faith, hope, memory, and the quiet strength that allows us to begin again. From this hidden centre, flowers burst into life, transforming the painting into a celebration of renewal and resilience.
Created through luminous colour and expressive brushwork, the work goes beyond the image of flowers in a vase. It speaks about the human spirit and its extraordinary ability to survive, heal, and grow. The blossoms become symbols of all that continues to flourish despite adversity, while the apple represents the inner source from which that strength emerges.
As an artist shaped by personal experiences of loss, endurance, and hope, I am drawn to stories of people who carry light through difficult times. In this sense, the painting is connected to the women portrayed throughout my Heroines series, including Mila Gojsalić. Although their stories differ, they are united by the same enduring force: the courage to preserve life, dignity, and beauty when circumstances demand sacrifice.
This work is dedicated not only to Mila Gojsalić, but to all those whose strength often remains unseen. It is a tribute to the quiet victories that shape human lives and to the belief that, no matter how difficult the season, life will always find a way to bloom again.
