"Rigomagus" is a work on paper from 2020 with a relief of approximately 4 cm and with an irregular shape. It consists of paper and acrylic paint on wrapping paper. In this work I was inspired by nature, architecture, the medieval church in Remagen and medieval book illumination. In my art practice I layer textures, paper, photos and paint into stories that invite the viewer to explore deeper meanings. In this work, I experimented with shape, space and relief. My interest was to create a three dimensional work by layering painted collage elements. For this reason I used a total of five to six layers of paper which I arranged differently on the surface. After that I cut and tore the layers of paper apart or I glued them together in a new order. In fact, in my paper artworks the process of creation is often very physical because I destroy, divide, tear, assemble and make something new out of the elements. The destruction becomes part of the creative process. During the process of creation I take spontaneous decisions and accidents happen, there is often chaos. The chaos is as well part of the creative process and will find its order in the end.
