ZukunftStadt 1.2

‘ZukunftStadt 1.2’ is a mixed-media work on paper. This work is subtitled ‘Personenkult’. It is an oil-acrylic painting featuring a single collaged paper fragment, which depicts a found image of a futuristically designed head. In this mixed-media work on paper, I explore structures, architecture, spaces and three-dimensionality. I express these elements in my artistic practice by layering paint, textures and experiment with various materials. In my series "Cities of The Future", I deliberately use a multi-perspective approach, or even a false perspective. This creates additional visual layers and fantastic spaces. In this series, the city becomes a space of projection. It is an urban environment that does not yet fully exist. Structures, geometric relationships and constructed forms evoke a landscape governed by organisation, but also by transformation. My "cities" are continuously designed and redesigned, they evolve and are shaped by human choices, technological development and changing ways of living. In this particular image, I explore the cult of personality – that is, the veneration and glorification of individuals in our societies, as well as their display of power and authority. To illustrate this, I have drawn a "organic" plinth and depicted a man’s head on it. And finally I ask myself what kind of environment are we building for the future.
