Lollipop

*Lollipop* is a mixed-media collage from 2023. It is a combination of painting and collage and consists of paper and acrylic paint on canvas. My works move between abstraction and figuration and in *Lollipop*, you will find elements of surrealism and pop art. In my artistic practice, I use collage as a form of structural research. Alternating between painting, works on paper and mixed media, I regard the canvas as a site of excavation, where the image retains the traces of its own creation. I am interested in the layering of textures, paper, found images and paint to create narratives that invite the viewer to explore deeper meanings. In *Lollipop*, found images are embedded within an abstract framework, inviting the viewer into a mysterious and playful dialogue between recognisable forms and textures. In this painting, I experimented with various materials, forms, colours, space, three-dimensionality and movement. I have divided my background into five geometric sections. These differ primarily in colour and shape. By adding this dark blue, elongated shape at the right-hand edge of the image, I have also created an additional spatial dimension.The foreground is designed differently. We see an imaginative motif composed of various forms and blooms that suggest movement and three-dimensionality. In this work painted and found elements take turns and interact. This gives the picture a light and playful side. There is a lot of room for interpretation.
