Series of experiments with fused glass incorporating electronic waste. During the firing process, bubbles emerge, created by the toxic gases released from the metals and plastics in the electronic components. These bubbles reminded me of the Great Oxygenation Event, which, more than 2 billion years ago, transformed the atmosphere and the entire planetary context due to the oxygen emitted by newly emerged plants in their process of respiration.
Considering that we are also altering the atmosphere through the gases emitted in sustaining a cosmopolitan-industrial way of life, it occurred to me that Ghana, for example, is one of the countries where the import of electronic waste is a major source of income. What will the air be like in Ghana?
