In the year when I finished the course at the Fine Arts University in Lisbon, I decided to do a large project in serigraphy and acid-bathed zinc sheets, as a reflection on the repetition of engraving processes, a notorious characteristic of the technique. Doomscrolling is copy of copy of copy in a loop of months of work.
I was reminded of Japanese washcloths on very long rice paper, in which landscapes unfold that the eye wanders and discovers little by little. Here, the same thing happens, but without new information, navigating with the eyes, in this case, is to assimilate again and again the same image, the same intention, the same speech...
Similar to the experience of lobotomizing scrolling on social networks, called doomscrolling.
