CONCEPT
This piece is a part of our "MECHANICA" artwork series, capturing often overlooked physical laws in our daily lives through visualization.
Inspired by Newton's Cradle—a phenomenon where multiple balls suspended by strings transfer momentum from one end to the other in a rhythm of repeated harmony and symmetry—the animation was conceived.
The work comprises five distinct scenes, each portraying the cradle embodying the laws of conservation of energy and momentum in its periodic motions.
Every scene unfolds in a unique environment and scale, with the pendulum's end balls being represented by varied materials to accentuate the essence of each situation.
Within each scene, different temporal axes coexist.
Props and the movement of the sun subtly hint at the relativity of time and the intrinsic time flow unique to each object.
On the other hand, consistent swaying of Newton's Cradle across scenes, even when the footage is reversed, strongly alludes to the reversibility of time.
With this creation, we endeavor to visually bridge Newtonian classical mechanics and 21st-century advanced physics theories, exploring themes of reversibility, irreversibility, symmetry, and asymmetry in movement and time.
It aspires to spark curiosity about the physical laws surrounding us and the cosmic order they signify.
