CONCEPT
This piece, a part of our series named "DIMENSIONAL LANDSCAPE", is formed by stretching a canvas to its utmost stretchability onto a wooden frame in accordance with architectural structural mechanics, resulting in a three-dimensional shape.
Centering on the curved surfaces generated by the tension imposed on the canvas, we seek to challenge and re-examine the flatness inherent in painting, striving to shift the focus of artistic intervention from mere plane to the expanded realm of the spatial.
The work is composed of two panels, each embodying a logarithmic spiral based on a ratio of √2, originating from the diagonal of a square.
Through the three-dimensional structure on the reverse side of the canvas, this spiral is embodied in a tactile form reminiscent of relief artistry, its overlapping arcs imparting the artwork with a layered spatial depth.
The selection of hues, rather than conveying specific meanings, serves as a means to clarify the domain of each panel and amplify awareness of the space itself.
In essence, behind this piece resides not an expression of particular subjects or emotions, but an aspiration to visualize the perfection and constancy across spatiotemporality inherent in mathematical principles and structures, projecting them into a conceptual landscape within the tangible space.
