Concept
This diptych is one of the variations created through experimental manipulation on the archetype of our artworks series "MISSHA(P)PEN CIRCLE", and the operation performed in this work is "superimposition".
The curved lines that at first glance appear to be oscillating, intersecting, branching and intricately intertwined on the panels are, upon closer inspection, revealed to be simply multiple overlapping closed curves composed entirely of circular arcs.
This complex-and-freewheeling-looking curved shape is actually the result of the superposition of several "Misshapen Circles" generated by a set of mathematical manipulations.
In this work, as in polyrhythmic music, the superposition of individual arcs, each producing its own rhythm and tempo, creates an overall harmonised visual melody that resonates through the space.
