Inspired by Sofinisba Anguissola’s Self Portrait at the Easel, painting a Devotional Panel, second half of 1500s, I used Anguissola’s similar pose. In this portrait, I am actively in the process of painting, I confidently direct my gaze at the audience claiming I am the creator. I am featured in front of a wall, like the styling and hanging of paintings floor to ceiling at the French Salons. These are images created by myself, through my photographic talents. Not only am I showing you my multi-faceted competencies as both a photographer and painter, but I am highlighting my most prized talent as I am in the process of painting a portrait of my own creation and what I consider one of my two greatest masterpieces, my children.
