Inspired by James Mc Neil Whistler’s painting, Arrangement in Grey and Black and White, No.1, what is most relevant to viewers of this painting is the adoration we hold for moms and the concept of fleeting of life. When viewing this painting, I ponder my life as I grow older. It may be a reality; I may grow old by myself in my old age. There is a melancholy feeling contrasted by the colorful walls of my house where I sit still in silence in a place that was once bustling with noise and energy. The repetition of the chairs and the use of shape are what tie this image together. The small drawing on the top of the wall, done by my youngest at seven years old, seems so far away. My solemness is reconciled by my loyal dog who sits on the chair in the room next to me.
