“Il giorno dopo”
Quest’opera rappresenta l’inizio della guerra tra Russia e Ucraina, il 24 febbraio 2022.
Vuole essere una testimonianza delle conseguenze dei bombardamenti che hanno colpito città e villaggi ucraini. Oltre alle vittime e ai feriti, restano le macerie, gli oggetti e gli arredi abbandonati: tracce silenziose che fissano un tempo ormai impossibile da recuperare.
Realizzata al tornio in legno di tiglio e successivamente bruciata a fiamma, l’opera richiama visivamente i segni della distruzione e della memoria sospesa, trasformando la materia in un simbolo di perdita e di testimonianza di ciò che è stato e che non potrà più tornare.
“The Day After”
This work depicts the outbreak of the war between Russia and Ukraine on 24 February 2022.
This is intended as a testament to the consequences of the recent bombings that have affected Ukrainian towns and villages. In addition to the victims and the wounded, what remains are the rubble, abandoned objects and furnishings: silent traces that bear witness to a time now lost forever.
The piece was made on a lathe from linden wood and subsequently flame-charred, resulting in a visual representation of destruction and suspended memory. The material's transformation symbolises loss and serves as a poignant reminder of what has been lost and cannot be recaptured.
