Organic Substrate - Zafaria

Organic Substrate – Zafaria expands the investigation initiated in the Intersections series by focusing on the emergence of life from a fragmented mineral substrate.

The work evokes a landscape where organic forms arise from fractured mineral matter. Textile fibres emerge in relief and gradually transform into hand-formed pigmented mortar tesserae and kiln-fused glass, while fragmented ceramic elements reveal a luminous mineral core. Metallic pigments create subtle shifts of light across the surface, suggesting a landscape in continuous growth, transformation and renewal.
