Beyond the Frame
Beyond the Frame explores the invisible frameworks that shape our perception of women's bodies and the standards by which beauty is measured.
At the centre of the work, a rigid frame embodies an idealized and standardized female figure. Reduced to a set of codified attributes, this grey structure reflects the uniformity of dominant representations and the limitations of a beauty defined by conformity.
Emerging beyond the frame, five golden figures celebrate the plurality of women's bodies, revealing beauty in difference rather than conformity. Their radiant presence contrasts with the dullness of the central model, suggesting that authenticity and individuality are far more vibrant than imposed ideals.
By confronting standardization with plurality, Beyond the Frame invites us to reconsider the norms that shape our perception of the female body. It suggests that what lies outside the norm is not something to hide, but something to celebrate. It is beyond the frame that bodies become visible, singular and radiant.
Note: Conceived as a lightweight structure, the work can be suspended from the ceiling or mounted on a supporting structure. Its open composition allows the figures to physically extend beyond the boundaries they challenge, reinforcing the idea that freedom and self-fulfilment emerge outside imposed standards.
