5ME. 5 Minutes experimenting
sensoriale virtuale. Pensiamo all’AR (Augmented
I piccoli e i grandi
altre offerte e condizionarne l’immersione immediatamente dopo.
L’opera mette a confronto l’immagine, a schermo
tendoni sospesi dall’alto.

Minutes experimenting
Technological
media, with their ability to tune into the human body, are transforming the
ways in which individuals perceive and think about reality. The tendency to make real a virtual space is
increasing day by day and it is now accompanied by the strategy of virtual
sensory interaction. Let’s think about AR (Augmented Reality) in which the
enrichment of human sensory perception takes place through information,
manipulated and conveyed electronically, that would not be perceivable with the
five senses. Let us also think about the simplest proposals that obtain to make
familiar and natural any image sent through a bright screen.
Could real
sensory perception ever be replaced by sensations proposed through binary
codes?
Do small
and large screens extend and transfer functions carried out by the sense organs
to the outside world, or rather do they steal this information from the human
body itself, which appears to be in some degree deficient?
The must of
a high flow of media communication in the society of images, tending to standardize
everything, makes spectacularisation indispensable through colors, situations
and times in order to make the event stand out as quickly as possible from a
plurality of other offers and condition its immersion immediately afterwards.
The
luminous screens are causing an intellectual and cultural atrophy, even before
a sensorial one.
In
smartphone times, time is measured in fractions of seconds. 5 Minutes experimenting is designed against
the engulfment of the accelerated virtual to revive the contemporary dialogue
on the sunset of reality.
The work
compares the image of a virtual room full of sensory solicitations, with the
real room in which the viewer is an active experimenter of different
solicitations: visual-tactile-olfactory-gustatory and kinesthetic.
The work
consists of a QR code in which the virtual installation is represented and the
real space, that is initially closed to the view. Outside this space, the
viewer frames the QR code with his cell phone to see the virtual image, then
later enters the room to verify the differences in perceptions.
Measures of the installation 4mt x 4mt x 4 mt
For the realization of the room is necessary to have at least two corner
walls.
The third and fourth walls will be made with curtains suspended from the
ceiling.
The effect of the room is a surprise because from outside you will see
only a series of black curtains.
