Graduated from the Academy of
Fine Arts of Brera in Milan, Monica Gorini has always combined her training in
the field of teaching and pedagogy with the artistic activity, in cooperation
with the Universites: Milano-Bicocca, Academy of Fine Arts of Brera. Ca’
Foscari University of Venice, U.I.C. Italian Union of Blind People, Institute
of Blind People of Milan, Triennale Design Museum, Art Beyond Sight in New York
are entities of reference for her collaborations and research in art and
education field.
She displayed two sculptures
in 2007-2009 at the Metropolitan Museum of Modern Art in New York, as part of
the conference ‘Multi-modal approaches to learning, creativity and
communication’ involving an audience of artists-researchers.
Monica Gorini's artistic
research, inspired by the long-time experience with blind people, is based on
the blend of different languages and a marked disposition to experimentation.
Her works always include a reference to multi-sensoriality and are accompanied
by the poems composed by the artist herself.
She is a self-taught
photographer and often combines personal references and materials from her own
poetic and oneiric world with scientific and philosophical theories, bringing
them together in a single form of narration. Particularly close to the world of
nature and rights, she is in search of an aesthetic purpose stimulating current
and intimate thoughts, aimed at developing social consciousness and a new
spiritual ecology of the world.
New York, Paris, London, Berlin, Barcelona, Turin, Venice, Milan, Rome are
some of the cities in which she exhibited her works.
