The outdoor installation, "La porta" is a slender iron structure accompanied by 7 stones, pink serizzo of Mottarone, taken from the river Pescone, in Val Menasca on Lake Orta.
The work was set up on one of the peaks of Mottarone, near the open pit where the stones were taken. They, re-proposing the same shades of colour as the female complexion, remind us that they derive from the ancient material of creation of which they still retain traces.
The perception-vision of the installation varies according to the weather conditions and the territory. After the rain, the reflections of the puddle exalt the continuity between sky and earth. Stones in the clouds or sky that touches the ground?
The installation that was designed to be set up on one of the peaks of this mountain has a triple purpose:
-wants to bring "into view" the stones of which the mountain is made, stones that, as explained above, connect the mountain to the human being, to the delicacy of his incarnate
-Through the slender structure, suggest the shots that the public can decide for themselves to discover that each shot will correspond to a fleeting moment of eternal beauty suggested by the set of natural elements that make up the place. A view over the entire chain of the Alps, immaculate for the snow, but that leaves room for the bright greens of the grassy mantle that covers the mountain in summer and then the endless possibilities of the sky, with its changing conditions due to an element of magic such as the clouds.
Already in the first century BC Lucretius wrote: "Nequaquam nobis divinitus esse paratam naturam rerum" stressing that the divine will had not arranged Nature for ordinary mortals as the appearance of man occurred on the planet only long after its genesis. Yet, since ancient times, the idea of dominating the natural world seems to have been an instinct of our species. Without ever owning it, the human being has intervened more and more violently on it and its ecosystems, arriving today at a point of no return. Only this deep understanding will allow the birth of a true ecological consciousness even among ordinary people, accompanied by daily choices and not left only to the awareness of great enlightened minds.
Contemporary man must be educated in the perception of himself in relation to the Universe to discover the fragility that underlies existence.
"We are also Nature, like the Mountains. We keep crumbs of stars...". Monica Gorini
The installation "la porta" is designed to be an itinerant work made with any stone from any territory of the earth. It can frame the landscape, whatever it is, to testify that the natural scenario is already itself a "work of art" and can become a gateway to infinite inner landscapes.
