Sunrise Over Cap Ferrat

Sunrise Over Cap Ferrat was inspired by one of my daily rituals in Nice: swimming in the Mediterranean during the summer and rollerblading along the Promenade des Anglais at sunrise. Returning to this landscape day after day transformed it from a familiar view into a lived memory.

I am fascinated by the quintessential light of the Côte d'Azur, especially in winter, when the lower sun creates vivid colours and hypnotic reflections across the Mediterranean. Rather than depicting the landscape literally, I reassemble the elements that stay with me—the rising sun, the sea, the mountains, and the shifting reflections—into a composition that captures the essence of the place.

The painting began directly on the beach in Nice during the winter before being completed in my studio, where hand-painted collage elements were added to create texture, depth, and a bold graphic language.
