Meeting Point on the Prom, Nice

Some moments stay with us not because of what happened, but because of where they happened. Along the Promenade des Anglais in Nice, friends meet, couples pause, strangers cross paths, and travellers arrive and depart against the backdrop of the Mediterranean Sea. Most last only a few moments before disappearing into the rhythm of the city.

Meeting Point grew from countless walks and rollerblade rides along this iconic waterfront and my fascination with these fleeting encounters. The Promenade has always felt like a vantage point—a place where people gather not only to watch one another, but also the boats drifting across the bay and the planes arriving and departing overhead. Rather than documenting a specific moment, I distilled this ever-changing rhythm into a composition of strong horizontal lines, bold graphic forms and layered shades of Mediterranean blue. The relationship between the two figures remains deliberately ambiguous, while the white trail of a passing plane—the only collaged element in the painting—quietly reinforces themes of movement, travel and transience.

More than a portrait of a place, Meeting Point celebrates the quiet mystery of passing lives and the enduring atmosphere of the Côte d'Azur.
