At the beginning of this year I wanted to experiment with content that I had wanted to check out for a long time. I wanted to try a mixture of images with different attributes in painting, in the same way as what happens in regular collage but which could only happen in painting.
In this work the two images of initial origin collide one another, flowing back where the meanings converge. Here the enigmatic position of the head of a leopard seal becomes the dress of a strange character and the very dress of the central subject ironically overturns the entire supposed realistic context, transforming the subject into a composite monstrosity with dual attributes.
All of this is easily verifiable in the collage but what the collage manages to convey is also the seductive border between two elements that cannot be completely blend together and which through the natural distinction of the two offers an ironic effect of hermaphroditic visuality. In painting this can gradually be overcome and the two constituent elements of the image are gradually able to merge with each other, finally succeeding in a definitive marriage.
