Starting from literary and cinematographic references, we proposed to reflect within the pictorial series "Objects of Desire", on the act of eating/being eaten from the point of view of the spectator who metaphorically feeds on a work of art but is also devoured/eaten. for the desire to own a work of art.
Dear Gretel: Continuing with the theme of "devouring" a work of art, this second painting introduces the other protagonist of the story, the girl Gretel. It was intended to accentuate the difference in gender, age, temperament, between siblings, opting for white chocolate, for a greater volume in the balls, less saturated colors and the use of black. She is understood as an older girl, with more complexities on a psychological level, which is reflected in a greater complexity on a formal level. The colored balls show several layers, which seem to be bitten, symbolizing a changing mechanism, evolution in something and someone, revealing a more aggressive, more reflective, less childish temperament. In short, she is the one who cares, the one who saves, the one who kills.
