Discrete is a photographic and paper collage on wood. This work began with the way repeated boxes and intersecting cables could create a dense visual system in which images remain separate without becoming isolated. A restrained movement runs across the surface, while connections appear gradually rather than all at once.
The original photographs are digitally cut before being printed and recomposed. Through these cuts, I follow the point at which familiar forms begin to shift into uncertain presences: faces seem to appear and withdraw before becoming fully recognisable. Pale, almost pastel colours and time-marked surfaces keep the utilitarian materials subdued. What is useful, overlooked and absorbed into everyday life remains visually active.
As it formed, the composition suggested its own perimeter and the shape of the wooden support, cut into a sharply asymmetrical form that contrasts with the used and utilitarian materials contained within it. What remains is a defined body, still in an unresolved and active relationship with its images.
