Concept:

Adentro 01 is part of the Adentro series, a Spanish word meaning “inside,” which symbolically marks the first phase of a layered journey through trauma and its potential transformation. This series forms the foundational core of Caterina Roppo’s artistic inquiry: a point of origin for a practice that weaves together material introspection and the poetic restitution of somatic memory.

Having lived for years with post-traumatic stress disorder, the artist initiated this body of work in dialogue with her therapist, shaping a shared process in which art and therapy coexist, free from moral or symbolic preconceptions. Within this context, Adentro takes shape: a series that addresses the delicate moment when one chooses to meet their inner child, to recognize its fragility and welcome its presence.

The work depicts a human figure in the fetal position, originally conceived as a graphic drawing and later embedded within the womb of the textile. It becomes an act of reintegration of the inner child, a form of visual guardianship in which vulnerability becomes an energetic and narrative center.

The ink and watercolor intervention does not illustrate; it reveals. It accompanies the slow emergence of form, as if the lines themselves were breathing through the fiber. The work presents itself as a possible container, an intimate space where what is fragile is not shielded, but acknowledged.
