SIDERAL GATE 2025 | SOGLIA SIDERALE 2025

ARTIST STATEMENT
My research explores the processes of growth, movement, and transformation in living systems through weaving, understood as a generative gesture that connects matter, body, and landscape.
I work with plant species often regarded as marginal or invasive, which I collect and transform using weaving techniques with ropes and natural fibres to create site-specific installations. Plants such as the Mediterranean reed (Arundo donax), bamboo, and broom, rooted in the territories where they grow and carrying complex ecological histories, become symbols of regeneration and tools for investigating processes of adaptation, transformation, and relationships between living beings.
The reeds used in my installations come from the maintenance of local bamboo groves and reed beds. Working with these plants means engaging with them in respect of their life cycles, fostering a direct and responsible relationship with the environment and the landscape.
Each work emerges from the encounter between a place, the qualities of the material, and a design intuition. I follow the characteristics of natural elements, their tensions, and their rhythms, allowing form to emerge through a process of listening and dialogue. The structures come to life as spatial organisms in relation to the landscape, inviting a heightened sensory perception of space and time.
The process lies at the heart of my practice: collecting and preparing materials, the gesture of weaving, and the construction and transformation of the work form a single creative act in which making becomes a form of knowledge, probing the relationship between the human and the non-human.
ARUNDO is the name of both my artistic practice and the collective I founded, through which I create each installation. Collaborative construction is a conscious artistic choice: the dialogue between people, materials, and landscape becomes an integral part of the work itself, transforming the creative process into an experience of connection.
