Pong Privilege turns a ping-pong table into an interactive installation about social asymmetry.
Each obstacle on the playing field represents a discriminated condition (e.g. disability, skin color, neurodivergence, poverty…).
If you belong to a marginalized category, you can remove the corresponding obstacle from your side of the table, making the game easier.
If you don’t belong to any, you start with a -5 point handicap.
The paddles vary according to economic privilege: the wealthier you are, the greater your disadvantage in the game.
The result is a lopsided, cruel, and revealing match:
in the upside-down world of Pong Privilege, privilege becomes a burden, and being discriminated a tactical advantage.
A physical, playable, and bitter metaphor for reality.
