I was born in Cartagena, a seaport that constantly resurfaces in my work, though I completed my Fine Arts degree in Valencia in the year 2000. I have spent over twenty years tied to a printing press; I like to think of my press as a sort of operating table where I act as a surgeon upon the paper, searching for that precise point where controlled chance and ink meet.
My career was forged within the art fair circuit, participating for three consecutive years in Estampa (Madrid) with the galleries Arte Privado and Baikal. Over time, however, my work has needed to break the boundaries of traditional printmaking. This is what I now call expanded printmaking: a hybrid process where I mix monotypes, structural collages, and hand-cut PVC matrices to model volume on a flat surface.
This past year has been a turning point. The Fundación Baleària selected me for the group exhibition Mediterranis and, to my surprise, chose my work to feature on the catalog cover. Additionally, this August, my 'Blue Cave' series travels to London for the exhibition Origins, curated by Monica Mardare at an independent space at 3 Loughborough Street. Currently, I continue to develop these cartographies from my studio in Asp (Alicante), with part of my production on deposit at Galería Alba Cabrera in Valencia.
