Material: Video projection or video on screen,optional rock-sculpture in fire-resistant aluminium (EN 13773 / class 1 • NFPA 701 / pass)
This work is at the same time an installation, with a sculpture of a rock in front of a video projection in a dark room (see first image and see video preview), or it can work as a standalone video/digital work on a screen (second image). In this second version it is interesting for the Ventana special prize.
The subject of the work is the sensation of isolation in our own human body and the impossibility to experience the world as seen from the outside of our "shell". This is expressed by the sentence "I am a rock", which appears in the soundtrack in 6 languages: it's a universal feeling, yet very individual at the same time, lived by billions of individuals all over the world in billions of individual "bodies". There is an accompanying text, expressing this, which can be displayed with the work:
The sea belongs to me.
It only exists inside of me.
All the rest is the fruit of my imagination.
I am a rock, soy una roca.
