The presented painting is part of a series - you can see four paintings of the series in the second image. (Att.: the price is for the one painting of the club chair.) These images translate carefully selected photos and texts from Facebook Marketplace into paintings.
This work (a series that is continuously expanding) refers to the fact that we do not live our life to the full. Often we delude ourselves about what we are going to achieve, how we are going to better enjoy our life, etc.
We also make purchases that help us achieve these dreams. But after years, these purchases become the material symbol of our failure. So I can find them on the sites of sale of second-hand objects in order to archive them.
Conceptual in nature, this idea requires a hyperrealistic realization: it is a kind of meticulous archiving of our failures, our missed opportunities to live certain experiences. The pictures become untold stories.
The paintings were made on panels (MDF), which allows an even more realistic and hard touch. Removing the color fits perfectly with the logic of the «nonvécu» The almost miniature format reinforces the link with the screenshot. The texts have been meticulously transferred below the images in the language as I found them on Facebook.
Note: the white area is part of the painting.
