The Tusk Master, is a play on the word “taskmaster” — someone who drives others with relentless demands. It reflects on the brutal training of elephants in circuses, where they’re beaten with bullhooks and forced to perform unnatural acts for our amusement. Confined in tiny cages, these magnificent creatures endure physical and emotional torment.
My sculpture unravels the illusion of childhood circus magic, revealing a darker truth. It’s a twisted fairytale — part absurd, part poignant — that asks us to rethink our cultural norms around entertainment and cruelty.
