Title
PLATO — Cave
Concept
PLATO — Cave reinterprets Plato’s Allegory of the Cave as a reflection on perception, mediated realities, and the systems that shape human understanding.
A seated figure appears enclosed within a fluid architectural structure that functions simultaneously as shelter, prison, and interface. The sculpture evokes the tension between what is seen and what is real, suggesting a condition in which experience is increasingly filtered through images, information networks, and technological systems.
While rooted in classical philosophy, the work addresses contemporary questions surrounding digital culture, algorithmic environments, and artificial intelligence.
It proposes that modern technological infrastructures have become new forms of the cave, influencing attention, belief, and collective perception.
Part of the ongoing series Architectures of Thought, the sculpture examines how ancient philosophical ideas continue to illuminate the challenges of contemporary society.
