PLATO — Cave
Concept
PLATO — Cave reinterprets Plato’s Allegory of the Cave as a contemporary reflection on mediated realities, perception, and technological influence.
The seated figure appears confined within a fluid architectural enclosure, suggesting a condition in which reality is experienced through filters, projections, and constructed narratives. The surrounding cavity functions simultaneously as shelter, prison, and interface.
While rooted in classical philosophy, the sculpture addresses present-day systems of image production, algorithmic environments, and artificial intelligence. The work proposes that contemporary digital infrastructures have become new forms of the cave, shaping attention, belief, and collective understanding.
