Rafael Triana (b. 1988, Ciego de Ávila, Cuba) is a multidisciplinary visual artist based in Paris. A graduate of the Instituto Superior de Arte (ISA) in Havana, where he received the Gold Diploma in Set Design, his practice spans video art, installation, sculpture, and digital experimentation, exploring tensions between control, migration, memory, and consumption.
He has been awarded 1st Prize at ART MATTERS 14 (Galerie Biesenbach, Cologne) and the Art Talent Fair Prize (Arte Padova, Italy), and was a finalist of the Arte Laguna Prize at the Arsenale of Venice, the VAO UK International Emerging Artist Award (London), and the Ciudad de Alcalá Visual Arts Prize (Spain).
Triana’s work has been presented internationally at Black Brick Project (New York), PAKD Gallery (Berlin), Museo Crocker (California), Palazzo Provana di Collegno / Diffusissima (Turin), BADA (Buenos Aires), Galerie Biesenbach (Cologne), and Art Battalion (Madrid).
His works are included in institutional collections such as the Museo de Arte de Terme (Italy) and the Bòlit Contemporary Art Museum (Spain). He has held residencies at Casa de Velázquez (Madrid), Lo Pati – Centre d’Art (Spain), Ha.aH Laboratory/Manifesta 15 (Barcelona), and is currently an artist-in-residence at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris (2025).
