Frequency II (Name) is part of the ongoing series OVNIPRESENTE, a body of work investigating the relationships between territory, memory and migration through sculptural systems built from ordinary objects.
The installation originates from the spoken word Name, whose vocal amplitude is translated into a spatial sequence of heights. This acoustic information is materialized through a series of modular elements constructed from reconfigured toilet plungers mounted on vertical wooden rods. Removed from their utilitarian function, these objects operate as units of spatial inscription, generating a fluctuating landscape that oscillates between diagram, topography and cartographic structure.
Within the context of migration, the name functions as a portable territory: a minimal yet persistent marker of identity that accompanies the body across borders, languages and geographies. The work explores how voice, memory and belonging become embedded in space, transforming an ephemeral utterance into a physical architecture of presence.
Rather than representing sound itself, Frequency II (Name) examines the processes through which individual experience is translated into spatial form. The resulting structure can be understood as a territorialized voice, a sculptural landscape where displacement, permanence and memory converge within a single oscillating field.
Through repetition, modularity and rhythm, the installation proposes an alternative cartography of movement, where identity is not fixed to a place but continuously produced through trajectories, inscriptions and acts of naming.
