State of Suspension I-IV
State of Suspension
State of Suspension is an ongoing body of work that combines performance, sculpture, photography, and video. I create wearable sculptures from discarded garments, bras, masks, and found materials. These objects become temporary extensions of the body before they are altered, abandoned, or transformed.
Each work begins with a performance. The photographs are not simply documentation but autonomous artworks that preserve a specific moment within the process. The sculptures carry traces of the performed actions and become witnesses to transformation.
Fire plays an important role in the series. It is not presented as an act of destruction alone, but as a process of release, transformation, and renewal. What remains are fragments that speak of memory, vulnerability, resilience, and the continuous possibility of change.
Throughout the series, the body moves between presence and absence, concealment and exposure. The relationship between performer and sculpture constantly shifts until the object exists on its own, carrying the memory of the body that once inhabited it.
State of Suspension reflects on how identity is shaped through what we wear, what we carry, what we discard, and what we leave behind.
