State of Self IV
State of Self explores the fragile relationship between the body and identity through performance and wearable sculpture. Using sculptural forms made from discarded bras, textiles, and found materials, I transform intimate objects into extensions of the body.
The body is confined within a wooden chair while the sculptural forms surround, support, and restrain it at the same time. Rather than functioning as clothing, the objects become physical traces of memory, vulnerability, and personal experience. They carry emotional weight while questioning how identity is shaped through what we wear, remember, and conceal.
The photograph captures a single moment from a live performance in which body and sculpture become temporarily inseparable. It is not a document of an action, but an autonomous work that preserves a state of physical and psychological suspension.
