CONCEPT
Scout is part of the Microcosm series, inspired by the slime mold Comatricha nigra. The work explores its decentralized way of sensing and responding to environmental conditions. Without a brain or central nervous system, the organism functions through distributed biological processes, continuously adapting to changes in its surroundings. The painting translates this hidden architecture of perception into an organic visual structure.
MEANING
Scout reflects on forms of intelligence and perception that exist beyond the human model. The slime mold becomes a metaphor for sensitivity without a central observer — a living system capable of receiving signals, responding to its environment, and adapting through distributed processes. Viewed from a posthumanist perspective, the work invites us to reconsider intelligence not as an exclusively human attribute, but as a capacity embedded in diverse forms of life.
DESCRIPTION
A watercolor composition built from delicate biomorphic structures, translucent layers, and organic connections. The forms appear to explore and respond to the surrounding space, suggesting a living network in constant interaction with its environment. The fluidity and transparency of watercolor emphasize sensitivity, movement, and the fragile yet highly responsive nature of the organism.
