I painted this to cope with my illness and the constant fear that I could die at any moment after my heart problems. I needed to find a way to domesticate that fear, so I decided to turn death into a "cool guy" smoking a cigarette. The Italian text "Pensa la fine" means "think of the end". By dressing the skeleton in my signature vibrant, floral patterns, I wanted to create a contrast between life and mortality, and regain control over my anxiety.
