The title of this painting is "Gipsy". I have Romani and Jewish roots. Living in Poland, I had to hide my heritage to avoid ostracism and prejudice. This artwork is about the pain of hiding my true identity, but also about my emotions during a past abusive relationship. The stitched mouth represents the forced silence—having to suffocate my feelings, my voice, and my background. The rich, colorful patterns show the beautiful heritage and inner dignity that I had to hide beneath the pain.
