Avec cette œuvre, j’ai voulu poser la question de l’identité culturelle et de la diversité des expressions africaines, sans tomber dans la folklorisation ni dans l’exotisme. Comment l’art africain peut-il naviguer entre héritage traditionnel et influences modernistes ? Comment éviter la simplification ou la réduction de cette culture à des symboles facilement reconnaissables, tout en restant fidèle à son essence ?
Cette peinture se situe à l’équilibre entre des éléments traditionnels et une forme contemporaine d’expression artistique. Elle repose précisément sur une hybridation dans la représentation de la femme africaine, souvent symbolisée dans les arts. Ici, elle est célébrée dans son identité culturelle et spirituelle.
Le défi consiste à intégrer les éléments du passé sans tomber dans une simple reproduction ou dans la nostalgie, tout en innovant à travers de nouvelles approches esthétiques.
With this work I wanted to pose the problem of cultural identity and the diversity of African expressions without falling into folklorization or exoticism? How can African art swim between traditional heritage and modernist in????uence, how to avoid simplification or reduction of this culture to easily recognizable symbols, while remaining faithful to its essence. This painting balances between traditional elements and a contemporary form of artistic expression, here precisely it is the hybridization of the representation of the African woman often symbolized in the arts, here she is celebrated in her cultural and spiritual identity the challenge being to integrate the elements of the past without falling into simple reproduction or nostalgia, while innovating through new aesthetic approaches.
