Here in Montana, we are surrounded by bears. Big grizzlies, black bears, all types, big and small. They come through yards, windows and are seen on hiking trails through the mountains. We feel them around us. For centuries, Native cultures worldwide have worshiped and called in the Bear Spirit for its great power. This bear is endangered and every day there is an effort here in Montana to release its status and make it the hunted. We need these apex predators, not only for their great contribution to the balance of nature but because they represent the truly wild. This American Grizzly is seen relaxing but alert in his natural home, the Grand Teton Mountain Range of Wyoming.
