What would our generation leave behind?
"Neo_Archeology" is a project
that seeks to examine our current culture, through a filter of archeological
findings. It is a series of modern fossils- plastic objects from our daily
lives, translated into stone; new objects born old.
In our every-day lives, we are
surrounded by plastic, disposable objects- consumerism that got out of hand. “Neo_Archeoloy”
criticizes our generation, and raises a question about the symbols of
our time, and our legacy for future generations. It is a conceptual project,
with speculative archeological items that would be found thousands of years
from now.
The objects are made out of lava- remelted volcanic rocks, cast
in the “cire perdue” technique. They are 100% rock made, replicating the
aesthetics and feel of a real
ancient archeological finding.
This
project is composed of 10 items, each represents a different topic. these are the ones in the pictures above:
* The "Credit Card
Fossil" (main pic): a reflection on coins and other trade means
found in archeological excavations.
* “Eternal Disposables”: (pic 1) a reflection on vases,
tools and other food aids used for eating and cooking, found in archeological
excavations, comparing to today's disposable dishes culture.
* “Toys Are Us” (pic 2): a reflection on figurines and small carved idols found in archeological
excavations, representing old beliefs and gods.
