Face Study_purple is a digital work created in Microsoft Excel. The piece uses a limited palette of purples, blues, reds, and yellows to build a face that feels both playful and slightly uneasy.
The image is simple at first glance, but the expression is hard to pin down. The figure seems calm, awkward, watchful, and vulnerable at the same time. I was interested in making a face that did not feel polished or idealized, but had its own strange presence.
The work uses Excel as a drawing space rather than a spreadsheet. The rigid structure of the software is pushed into something more immediate and human, with rough lines, flat color, and visible imperfections left in the image.
