Street art on glass, 550 m², Credinvest Bank building, Lugano, Switzerland.
Astro Credy is the largest street art work ever created on glass: a monumental intervention covering the three facades of a six-storey glass building at the entrance of the city of Lugano, extending over 550 square metres and continuing inside, where a room has been transformed into a flowering garden that becomes part of the work itself.
The protagonist is a female astronaut, a figure of strength, beauty and elegance who floats among peonies, camellias, dahlias and the butterflies of Monte Generoso, the natural world that surrounds the artist's home and studio. In Catania's poetics the astronaut is a metaphor for contemporary humanity, subjugated by the technology it has created and called to rediscover its own nature. By placing a woman at the centre of the imagery of space exploration, the work also anticipates a moment history has yet to record, the first step of a woman on the Moon, restoring the female figure to the centre of the dialogue between nature and progress. In 2026, after a symbolic journey of 422 days, the work evolved into a new chapter in which the astronaut finally reaches the lunar surface.
The technical achievement matches the conceptual one. Street art had never been possible on glass: the work was realised with an innovative self-supporting printed film that adheres through micro suction cups, without glue, allowing a clean, reversible and sustainable application. Through augmented reality, the facade opens onto further visual content created by the artist, in a continuous dialogue between the physical city and its digital extension.
