Neo Eva 2029 belongs to Yuri in Wonderland, the series in which Catania explores the relationship between technological humanity and nature: the astronaut, a metaphor for the contemporary human being subjugated by technology, is called to return to what it truly is, nature itself.
A pregnant woman stands in profile against the full Moon, her figure created entirely through post-photography. Behind the visor of her helmet there is no face: a bouquet of white flowers blooms in its place. She is Neo Eva, the new Eve of a near future, carrying life toward a possible genesis beyond Earth.
Around the monochrome image, the artist paints by hand a garden of fluorescent flowers, the flowers of the garden of CasaGalleria.ART in Rovio. The acrylics are UV-reactive: at night the painting reveals itself under the beam of a torch, which is an integral part of the work, turning every viewing into a nocturnal discovery.
